The Plesk Two-Step Authentication Extension

UNLOQ provides two-step authentication via push notification to your mobile device or using a time-based one-time password.

Check out the extension on the Plesk store.

In order to use this extension, you need to download the UNLOQ mobile app and setup the extension following the steps below:

A. Installation

***Please note that you require administrative rights for these steps.***

From the Plesk administration panel:
  1. Access Extensions and under the Authentication category you will find UNLOQ Two-Step Authentication extension
  2. Install the extension
  3. Purchase the license required to access the extension

After purchasing the license you need to setup the extension as follows:
  1. Go to the "UNLOQ Two-Step Authentication" extension. You will be presented with the initial setup page where you are required to fill in the email that you want to use in relation with UNLOQ, and the name of your instance. The name of the instance will be prefilled but you can customise it as you please, at this point or later in the extension settings page. Click Submit and you will be redirected to a secondary page, asking for your verification code, which you will receive via e-mail. image
  2. Enter the verification code in the next screen and hit Verify. The extension is now successfully installed on your server. Once the code has been validated, you will have access to all the extension functionalities.
    After setting up the extension you may proceed to the “Authentication” tab where you can select “Password & UNLOQ as second factor” for any type of users from your system (Admin, Reseller, Customer). image

C: Two-Step Authentication Usage

Enable

In order to enable two-step authentication, access the “Two Factor Auth” tab as an administrator. If you have a different role in the system, you can click the UNLOQ link, under Additional Services.
This will take you to the page where you can enable Two-Step Authentication for your account. If UNLOQ is not enabled for your user type, you will be informed on this page.

Click “Enable Two Factor”.
If this is the first time you enable it for your account you will be presented with a screen which will guide you on how to pair your device.

Download and install the UNLOQ application on your mobile phone as instructed on the screen. Setup the application and click + in order to pair your device with your Plesk account.
Once the device is paired, the Plesk page will refresh and a pop-up window will alert you to “Approve the request on your mobile app”. On your mobile device you will get a notification to approve your login to Plesk.

Disable

Once the functionality has been enabled, the “Disable Two Factor” button will be available on the same page. Clicking it will result in disabling the Two-Step authentication.

D. Frequently asked questions

Mobile app reset
  1. If you have deleted the mobile app from your phone, reset your mobile phone, or changed your phone, you will need to re-pair you device.
  2. Enter your email address in the mobile application and press Continue.
  3. You will receive an activation email. After you've clicked on the activation link, the device will be re-paired and you can start login in with UNLOQ once again.
